COS opens it’s first Texas location today in the new hot shopping spot River Oaks District. COS, an H&M owned brand, started in London in 2007 and can be found across Europe. They opened their US site and first US store in Los Angeles just last year, so we were extremely excited to see a store in Houston so soon. We asked COS Managing Director, Marie Honda why they chose Houston as an early location.
We are very selective when choosing locations for our stores, having opened stores in New York and California we decided this fall to open our first store in Boston and now Houston. As a brand we want to be represented and positioned where we can best serve our customers. Our design ethos is all about accessibility and this also relates to our store locations. We often find that our ideal location is somewhere between the high end destination shopping streets and the high street stores, we believe this is reflected in the River Oaks development in Houston.
The Houston store has a unique façade that we created from concrete, we wanted to use a material that felt quite raw and had a tactile appearance and feel. The interior design reflects our overall aesthetic with a minimal and uncluttered modern feel. We always try to create an atmosphere that is both dynamic and calm, with the main focus always on the collection. All of our stores have a contemporary look in grey tones and subtle materials which create a ‘blank canvas’ as a backdrop to the collection.
The COS collection is full of high quality fashion essentials and reinvented classics for men, women and children. We’re absolutely in love with their sleek modern aesthetic for basic pieces that are anything but basic and at a great price point. The over 4,000 sqft store opens at today at noon.
