Anime Matsuri Returns!

Anime Matsuri, the annual anime Japanese culture convention is back for it’s ninth year in Houston.   Anime Matsuri started in 2007, and since then has grown to over 19,000 attendees, and listed as one of the largest anime conventions in North America.

The convention will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center, and is a three day festival full of panels, workshops, contests, and events all promoting Japanese culture.  Highlighted events include a Lolita Tea Party, Maid Cafe, Japanese style Car Show, Japanese Concerts, and the largest Japanese Fashion Show in the US.  Anime Matsuri is focused on not only bringing the excitement of Japan, but also try to educate the community on cultural diversity.

This year four designer brands take the stage in the 2015 Japanese Fashion Show entitled ‘Monster.’ Featuring: Metamorphose, Putumayo, Angelic Pretty, & Atelier Boz, on Friday night.  On Saturday night, Award winning Japanese singer, model, and actress, Anna Tsuchiya, will be performing her first full concert in the US. A must see Japanese rock performance.

If you’re a veteran con-goer or just want to bring the family for a new experience, Anime Matsuri has got something for you.  Single day tickets will cost $55 for Friday, Saturday, and $30 for Sunday.  Full weekend badges are also available for purchase on site for $65, with kids passes (between age 6-12) for $30.
